5.48pm: Right, that's it then. I have to say I prefer the new, quicker format of the draw compared to the rather drawn out process that we've had to endure in the past! I'm looking forward to those opening fixtures already. First though, we have Europa League action to bring you as Newcastle and Liverpool look to qualify for the group stage. Join me from 7.15pm for live coverage of those games. Thanks for reading.

5.43pm: United will undoubtedly be the happiest of the four English sides, followed by Arsenal, then Chelsea, then Man City. Celtic will be satisfied with their group despite facing the daunting prospect of two games against Barcelona.

5.40pm: City get Dortmund! What a nightmare group that is...

5.37pm: Chelsea get Danish minnows Nordsjaelland.
5.36pm: Olivier Giroud will be facing his old club as Montpellier are drawn in Arsenal's group. That completes a pretty satisfying draw for the Gunners.

5.34pm: Celtic get Barcelona... although they will fancy pipping Benfica and Spartak to second.

5.33pm: Just Pot 4 left to be drawn then, and in there we have Celtic, Borussia Dortmund, BATE Borisov, Dinamo Zagreb, Cluj, Malaga, Montpellier and Nordsjaelland. Dortmund are clearly the team to avoid here, while Celtic will be hoping to avoid group D or E, you feel.

5.31pm: Barcelona have got some cannon fodder in their group in the shape of Benfica and Spartak Moscow.

5.30pm: Chelsea get Juventus...

5.29pm: Ajax will join Real and City in Group D. That's a tough path for all three teams.

5.28pm: City manage to avoid PSG, who are drawn with Porto and Dynamo Kiev...

5.26pm: It's not looking too bad for Arsenal, who get Olympiakos.
5.25pm: United get Galatasaray. This is turning into a nice little draw for Fergie.

5.23pm: Next up it's Pot 3, which contains Olympiakos, Ajax, Juventus, Spartak Moscow, Paris Saint-Germain, Lille, Anderlecht and Galatasaray. Juve and PSG are the two to avoid here.

5.20pm: City get Real Madrid! What a couple of games that will be...

5.18pm: Arsenal get Schalke. That's a pretty tough draw for Wenger's side.

5.17pm: United get FC Braga... they'll be delighted with that.

5.15pm: Valencia will be in Bayern's group, those two met in the 2001 final.

5.14pm: Chelsea will play Shakhtar Donetsk. Could have been better, could have been worse.

5.13pm: City will be desperate to avoid Barca, Real and Bayern, with Porto the side you feel they would most like to face. Here we go...

5.11pm: Next up is Pot 2, which contains Valencia, Benfica, Shakhtar Donetsk, Zenit St Petersburg, Schalke, Manchester City, Braga and Dynamo Kiev.

5.07pm: The drawing of the first pot, of course, means nothing until the others are drawn, but the tension is still building in Monaco...

5.00pm: We're about to begin...

4.55pm: Clubs from the same nation cannot be drawn against each other in the group stage but, of course, Celtic could face any one of the four English clubs. With the other three clubs all in Pot 1, Man City will face one of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, AC Milan or Porto.

4.52pm: The depth of European football just gets stronger and stronger every year and there are so many clubs the British quintet will be looking to avoid... Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United are in Pot 1, Manchester City in Pot 2, and Celtic in Pot 4.

4.45pm: Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Sportsmail's live coverage of the draw for the 2012-13 Champions League group stage from Monaco.
